The Edufinet Project, promoted by Unicaja Banco and Fundación Unicaja, has launched a new edition of the Financial Education Workshops for Young People, which aim to provide secondary and baccalaureate students with a clear vision of the world of economics and finance and which include, on this occasion, sustainability and taxation among their contents.

The first workshop of the 15th edition of this initiative took place at IES Severo Ochoa Secondary School in Granada, as it was the winning high school in the last Financial Olympics, a competition to demonstrate the knowledge acquired in the Financial Education Workshops for Young People.

Throughout the 14 editions carried out so far, these workshops have had nearly 157,000 attendees. As on previous occasions, for this academic year 2023-2024, Edufinet has invited schools from all over the country to participate.

Sustainability and taxation

The aim is to continue teaching young people the basics of economics and finance, with special attention to the different financial products and services that they already use or will use during their lives, and, on this occasion, emphasizing issues such as sustainability and taxation.

To this end, eminently practical sessions, adapted to the needs of young people, will be given at the participating educational, with an expected duration of 60 or 90 minutes.

Other workshops

The Financial Education Workshops for students in Vocational Training, organized by Edufinet and now in their seventh edition, and 'EdufiKids', for students in the sixth year of primary education, have also begun.

Edufinet was launched at the end of 2007, although it began to be developed in 2005, within Unicaja, with the collaboration of the International University of Andalusia (UNIA) and the University of Malaga (UMA).

It is currently supported by 17 universities and more than a dozen business institutions and organizations. Since its launch, some two decades ago, almost 260,000 people have participated in the different seminars, workshops, courses and conferences it has organized. The Edufinet Project web pages have so far registered more than 20 million accumulated visits, with access from almost 180 countries.

All this has made Unicaja, one of the first entities in Spain to launch an initiative of this type, one of the most active agents in the fields of education and financial inclusion, in the exercise of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and commitment to society, both on the part of Unicaja Banco and the Fundación Unicaja.
