Action plan for the next school year
The Edufinet Action Plan 2018-2019 features some new events and actions. The first one is the organization of the Edufinet International Congress on Financial Education ‘Realities and Challenges’, scheduled for 22 and 23 November in Malaga and with a clear goal: to raise awareness of the importance of financial education and to analyze the main challenges that it faces, as well as the best ways to improve its efficiency. The Congress website, www.edufinetcongress.com, is already active.
This new school year will also feature a special edition of the Financial Olympics (IX edition), to be held in September within the events to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Edufinet project. It will be an online Olympics through the Edufinet website. Also, the X Financial Olympics will involve a format change with regard to the traditional format of this educational competition: it will be an online interactive game to test the knowledge acquired by the participants in the financial education conferences.
Furhtermore, a new edition of the Financial Guide (sixth edition) and the second edition of the financial education comic will be published this year.
These new initiatives join the usual programme of Edufinet with workshops on financial education for young people and different courses to bring the world of finance and economics closer to the highest possible number of people and social groups.
Edufinet Project: bringing financial education closer to citizens
Edufinet was launched at the end of 2007, although its development began in 2005 within Unicaja. Since it was created, over 127,000 people have directly participated in the different workshops or meetings organized by this financial education project, of which 89,000 are young people. The Edufinet Project website (www.edufinet.com), has registered more than seven million visits, with consultations and access from nearly 180 countries. In addition to more than ten business institutions and organizations, 14 universities (including one from Portugal) collaborate with this programme. All of the previous have made Edufinet, promoted by Unicaja Banco and Fundación Unicaja, to be one of the first financial education projects launched in Spain, a work which has been recognized with several awards.
The Edufinet Project does not offer only a general website, but it has other two specific portals: the first one, addressed to business owners and entrepreneurs (Edufiemp), and the second one, on financial education for young people (Edufinext).
Publications on finance are other of the main lines of action of the Edufinet Project, such as the ‘Financial Guide’ and the ‘Financial Guide for Business Owners and Entrepreneurs’.
