The 10th Conferences on Financial Education for Young People intend to promote financial literacy, focusing on daily elements, with the purpose of teaching Secondary and Baccalaureate high school students the appropriate skills for their day-to-day use. These Conferences are organized and given by the Edufinet Project, promoted by Unicaja Banco and Fundación Unicaja.

In sum, the aim is to continue teaching the basic aspects of economics and finances, paying special attention to the financial products and services that students use or will use throughout their life.

The workshops given at high schools are very practical, adapted to the needs of young people. In general, they cover basic economic indicators and the most usual products and services (notions on fixed income and securities, mutual funds, public pension system or loans, for instance).

The students attending the 10th Conferences on Financial Education for Young People can show what they have learnt at the school competition Financial Olympics, which is also celebrating its tenth edition.

Edufinet Project

The Edufinet Project launched in 2007 its Internet portal, fostered by Unicaja and with the collaboration of the International University of Andalusia (Universidad Internacional de Andalucía, UNIA) and the University of Malaga (UMA).

However, the development of the project started in 2005 within Unicaja, and it became one of the first financial institutions in Spain to launch an initiative of this kind. It currently collaborates with 14 universities and over ten institutions and business organizations.

During its eleven years of trajectory, more than 127,600 people have participated in the different conferences, workshops, lectures and seminars developed, of which 89,000 have attended the Conferences on Financial Education for Young People. The website www.edufinet.com has registered so far more than 7.6 million visits, with access from nearly 180 countries.

Edufinet offers two additional specific Internet portals: one addressed to young people (Edufinext) and one for business owners and entrepreneurs (Edufiemp).
