Unicaja Banco sponsors and hosts one more year the Law Seminar 'Por el diálogo', which starts its 18th edition on Wednesday and will take place in Malaga

Renowned judges, lawyers and professors of the Spanish legal scene participate in this series of lectures, organized in its 18th edition by the Asociación Profesional de la Magistratura (Professional Association of Judges, APM), with the collaboration of the Area of Procedural Law of the University of Malaga (UMA) and sponsored by Unicaja Banco.

These lectures, which are to be held from Wednesday 8 to Friday 10 May, will focus on topical relevant issues such as 'Criminal-law protection of road traffic victims', 'Organized crime on the Costa del Sol' and 'Judicial independence: situation of judges in Catalonia'.

 

Unicaja Banco sponsors and hosts one more year the Law Seminar 'Por el diálogo' which, organized in its 18th edition by the Asociación Profesional de la Magistratura (Professional Association of Judges, APM) and by the Area of Procedural Law (Área de Derecho Procesal) of the University of Malaga (UMA), starts next Wednesday and will take place in Malaga. Lectures will be given on 8, 9 and 10 May, at Unicaja Banco’s conference hall, in avenida de Andalucía, from 18.30. Admission is free according to availability.

 

The objective of this seminar is to discuss about topical relevant legal issues, such as ‘Criminal-law protection of road traffic victims’, ‘Organized crime on the Costa del Sol’ and ‘Judicial independence: situation of judges in Catalonia’. After the lectures, there will be an open debate with the audience.

Some of the most renowned judges, lawyers and professors of the Spanish and Malaga legal scene will participate in this seminar. In this sense, participants include: President of the High Court of Justice of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla (TSJA), Mr. Lorenzo del Río Fernández; Coordinating Prosecutor on Road Safety, Mr. Bartolomé Vargas Cabrera; Chair of the Chamber for Social Matters of the TSJA, Mr. Francisco Javier Vela Torres; Judge on leave of absence and partner of Ramón y Cajal Abogados, Javier Gómez Bermúdez; Professor of Procedural Law at the University of Barcelona, Mr. Jordi Nieva Fenoll; members of the General Council of the Judiciary Mr. Juan Manuel Fernández Martínez and Mr. Juan Martínez Moya; Associate Professor of Procedural Law at the University of Malaga, Mrs. Yolanda de Lucchi López-Tapia, and the Judge of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra and President of the Asociación Profesional de la Magistratura (APM), Mr. Manuel Almenar Belenguer.

 

Other attendants include Senior Judge of Málaga, José María Páez Martínez-Virel; Chief of the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit of the National Police in Malaga, Mr. José Manuel Rando; Judge of the Chamber of Social Matters no. 22 of Barcelona and President of APM in Cataluña, Pablo Baró Martín; and the journalists Mr. Juan Luis Galiacho and Mr. Albert Castillón.

 

Participation of the following attendants is also foreseen: President of the Sixth Division of the Provincial Court of Malaga, Antonio Alcalá Navarro; Judge of the Fifth Division of the Provincial Court of Malaga and Provincial Representative of the Asociación Profesional de la Magistratura in Malaga, Soledad Velázquez Moreno; Associate Professor of Procedural Law at the University Carlos III of Madrid, Mrs. Helena Soleto Muñoz, and Associate Procedural Law at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Mr. Juan Carlos Ortiz Pradillo.

 

The 18th Law Seminar 'Por el diálogo' is scheduled to be opened by the President of the High Court of Andalucía, Ceuta and Melilla, Lorenzo del Río Fernández, on Wednesday at 18.30 at Unicaja Banco’s Conference Hall, in avenida de Andalucía, 10-12, in Malaga. The event will be presented by Soledad Velázquez Moreno, Judge of the Fifth Division of the Provincial Court of Malaga and Provincial Representative of the Asociación Profesional de la Magistratura in Malaga.

 

The closing of the lectures, which will take place next Friday, is expected to be attended by the Chairman of Unicaja Banco, Manuel Azuaga, as well as by the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre; Associate Professor of Procedural Law of the University of Malaga, Mrs. Yolanda de Lucchi López-Tapia and by the Judge of the Provincial Court of Pontevedra and President of the Asociación Profesional de la Magistratura, Manuel Almenar Belenguer.
