The bank has been part of the group of investors that has participated in these forums, organized within the framework of the Project to Promote Entrepreneurship and Self-Employment CEA+Empresas and with subsidies by the Department of Economy, Knowledge, Companies and University of the Junta de Andalucía, in order to provide access to financing for new business initiatives and to favour their growth, by putting at their disposal its main lines of actions for the promotion of entrepreneurship.

The support to these events falls within the bank’s interest in contributing to the development of actions to encourage job creation and entrepreneurship, as well as to foster the economic boost in the areas where it operates.

Companies in general and SMEs in particular are a key group in Unicaja Banco’s policy, especially in Andalusia. In this context, it is a priority for the bank to provide financing to businesses, which are essential to boost the economy and create employment. This interest is reflected in the agreements recently signed with Confederación de Empresarios de Andalucía (CEA) and Málaga (CEM), for instance.

Meetings to foster private investment

These forums intend to create a favourable climate for private investment, to pave the way for young Andalusian entrepreneurs to have access to financing to launch their business initiatives.

The more than 160 entrepreneurs who have attended the events, mostly young business owners that are in an early stage of development of their initiatives, have had the opportunity of attending lectures given by professionals with experience in renowned companies, as well as of participating in a Breakfast Networking to establish contact with other entrepreneurs and investors to create commercial channels.

These meetings have also included Elevator Pitchs, funding rounds where nearly 40 business initiatives have been presented to investors, to get financing to boost the projects; as well as B2b meetings, where business owners have arranged 15-minute private meetings with potential business partners to establish and consolidate relations.

CEA (https://www.cea.es/) is a regional, confederative and inter-sectorial organization. It is composed by institutions from the eight Andalusian provinces and is part of the CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Employer’s Organizations). In particular, it is formed by more than 750 associations from all over Andalusia and includes every sector and type of business.

AJE is a non-profit regional organization of inter-sectorial nature which represents and defends the interests of young business owners in Andalusia, paying attention to their needs for training, advice and information. It currently integrates 2,300 business owners and 3,200 companies.
