The aim of this workshop, organized for the second time this year, responds to the goal of teaching future entrepreneurs the main keys of the financial world, as well as basic skills to assess and choose the most suitable product for the company at any time.

Among the topics covered in the workshop, the participants have received information on financing according to the company’s life cycle (short and long-term), own and third-party funds or public and private subsidies. Also, those aspects which are most valued by financial institutions have also been analyzed and emphasis has been placed on the need to have knowledge on accounting and finance to perform in a business environment.

IMFE, belonging to Malaga City Council, intends to be an instrument to promote the economic and social development in the city of Malaga by supporting the creation and consolidation of businesses and promoting employment and self-employment.

Through its Business Unit, it acts as a reference center to boost, support and provide guidance to entrepreneurs who decide to start a business project, and it is responsible for channeling the different aids to entrepreneurship (subsidies and micro-credits, for instance).

Edufinet Project, a pioneering financial education initiative

The Edufinet Project has been for nearly 15 years bringing financial education closer to society. This has made Unicaja to be one of the financial institutions pioneering in Spain in the launch of an initiative of this kind. In addition to more than ten business institutions and organizations, 15 universities collaborate with the programme.

Edufinet has been working, through an Internet portal aimed at the general public, since the end of 2007, although its development began in 2005 within Unicaja. Since it was launched, more than 152,000 people have participated directly in seminars and workshops, of which more than 108,000 were young people. The website www.edufinet.com has registered so far more than 7,8 million visits, with access from nearly 180 countries.

The said Internet portal on financial education offers systematic and practical information in a question-answer format and where no previous knowledge is required. Two specific portals have also been created: one aimed at entrepreneurs and business owners (Edufiemp) and one on financial education for young people (Edufinext).

In addition to the Conferences on Financial Education for Young People and the Financial Olympics, Edufinet promotes the organization of workshops and lectures at universities, summer courses or the participation in international projects. It also fosters several publications, such as the ‘Financial Guide’ and the ‘Financial Guide for Business Owners and Entrepreneurs’.
