Unicaja Banco supports again the work of Federación Malagueña de Peñas with the signature of an agreement to put at its disposal a comprehensive specific financial service to facilitate the development of their activities and projects

Unicaja Banco supports one more year the work of Federación Malagueña de Peñas, Centros Culturales y Casas Regionales ‘La Alcazaba’ (Malaga Federation of Associations) with the signature of an agreement to put at the disposal of the association itself and of its more than 100 member associations a comprehensive specific financial service, on advantageous terms, to facilitate the development of their activities and projects, especially now due to the crisis caused by the COVID-19.

 

The support to the work of Federación Malagueña de Peñas falls within the actions developed by Unicaja Banco and aimed to the promotion and dissemination of local folklore, culture and tradition, as well as to the boost to job creation.

 

This agreement has been signed by the Head of Insitutional Relations and Relations with Stakeholders of Unicaja Banco, Fernando Ríos; by Unicaja Banco Regional Manager for Malaga, Agustín Sánchez, and by the President of Federación Malagueña de Peñas, Manuel Curtido. The agreement includes a comprehensive range of products and services on advantageous terms, designed by the bank to meet the needs and to facilitate the activity of both the ‘La Alcazaba’ and of the different associations that belong to it.

 

The agreement strengthen the relationship between the bank and the association, and it includes the sponsorship by Federación Malagueña de Peñas, through Unicaja Banco, of activities such as Cruces de Mayo, Malaga Fair, the floral offering to the Virgen de la Victoria at Malaga Cathedral, Día del Mayor of Malaga International Folklore Festival¸ whose celebration is subject to the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic.

 

Wide range of products and services

 

The products and services offered include financing for investment; current account on special conditions; specific services for the management of collection and payments and for the payment of taxes; PoSTs, or Unicaja Banco’s Digital Banking, such as UniVía and Unicaja Móvil App, to operate without mobility restrictions, through smartphones and tablets, and Unipay Bizum App to pay or receive money through the mobile phone.

 

Additionally, the following products and services should be mentioned: wide range of insurance and pension plans, as well as financing facilities on preferential terms (loans, mortgages, etc.) and payroll service for employees and members.

 

 

Federación Malagueña de Peñas

 

Federación Malagueña de Peñas ‘La Alcazaba’ was established in 1981 through the union of a group of institutions from Malaga, most of them with a caseta at the fairground. Its goals are the promotion and defense of Málaga peñas (associations), the development and consolidation of a good community spirit in all its fields of actions, based on full respect to the characteristics, personality and features of each peña, as well as solidarity between them. It also fosters the promotion and development of activities in the interest of all the peñas which are member of the institution.

 

It has got more than 100 association member. Although most of them are based in Malaga, there are peñas from other towns such as Torremolinos, Antequera, Rincón de la Victoria, Alhaurín de la Torre or Teba. In total, the Federación represents a group of some 12,000 people, relating to nearly 40,000 people in Mala province, including family relatives and supporters.

 

It carries out an especially remarkable work in the recovery and promotion of traditions such as Cruces de Mayo, Nativity scenes or Pastorales, with Malaga Fair being the most visible area of its support to traditions.
