The Toledo Section of Madrid’s Association of Economists (Sección de Toledo del Colegio de Economistas de Madrid) celebrated the Economist Day, an institutional event with collaboration of Unicaja Banco in which professionals who have been linked to the institution for 35 years were honored, and new members were also welcomed.

The event, chaired by the Dean of the Toledo Section of Madrid’s Association of Economists, Jesús F. Santos Peñalver, included a lecture under the title ‘Current reality and growth and investment plans of Puy du Fou in Toledo’, given by the Vice-president of Puy du Fou España, Jesús Sainz.

In his speech, Jesús F. Santos remarked the importance of the work of economists, especially in moment of crisis, assuming responsibilities to safeguard the public interest and to manage institutions, adapting business strategies to the developments of the economic reality.

Furthermore, during the celebration of the Economist Day, at the Aula Magna Madre de Dios de San Pedro Mártir, at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, the regional Minister for Finance and Public Administrations of the regional government of Castilla-La Mancha, Juan Alfonso Ruiz Molina, recognized the day-to-day work of economists, and the Dean of the Madrid’s Association of Economists, Amelia Pérez Zabaleta, remarked the Association’s support to the Toledo Section, established 29 years ago, and highlighted the importance of being member of the association as support and guarantee of the economists’ work quality.

Unicaja Banco’s Regional Manager of Business Banking, Carlos Martín-Forero, remarked the bank’s commitment to groups such as the Economist Association, which contribute value to the society with their work. Collaborations like this one reflect Unicaja Banco’s commitment and interest in generating benefits to Toledo society and, by extension, to Castilla-La Mancha.

As it is traditional, the Association of Economists recognized the importance of the organization’s institutional role in the development of the economist profession, serving as a reference for its members in terms of ongoing training, the exchange of opinions and an element to communicate their demands to the different public and private institutions and to boost the importance of the profession for society in general.
