The Edufinet Project, promoted by Unicaja Banco and Fundación Unicaja, and in collaboration with the University of Malaga (UMA), has delivered a workshop on stock markets, where more than 70 students have learnt to trade stocks and other key topics to invest and operate in the stock market.
This training initiative, with a clearly practical approach, has been organized in three 1.5-hour sessions, held at the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of the UMA.
The sessions have been delivered by the Head of Financial Education at Grupo Unicaja, José Antonio Díaz Campos, and the students have received information on topics related to the equity market, such as profitability, risk, valuation and how to trade stocks. Later, the participants have applied the concepts they have learnt through several practical exercises.
Among other topics, the students have also learnt about the assets traded on the stock market, the different variables with an impact on the share price and yield, risks and costs of investing in stock markets and some notions about the financial statements of companies.
The Edufinet Project, with more than 15 years of history, is one of the pioneering financial education programmes in Spain, and its promotion and dissemination work has been recognized with several awards. It currently collaborates with 16 universities and with more than ten institutions and business organizations.
Pioneering programme in Spain
The Edufinet Project has been available since 2007 through an Internet portal for a general audience, although its development began in 2005. Since it was launched, more than 180,000 people have participated in the seminars, workshops, courses and lectures organized.
The website (https://www.edufinet.com) has registered more than ten million visits, with consults and visits from nearly 180 countries. It also features portals with specific content, such as Edufinext, addressed to young people; Edufiemp, for business owners and entrepreneurs, and Edufiagro, which seeks to raise awareness of the importance of financial literacy for farmers.
The website includes other sections such as Edufiblog, EdufiAcademics, EdufiTech and a videogame. The project also has a YouTube channel, as well as profiles on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedInd.
All of the above has made Unicaja, one of the first institutions in Spain to launch an initiative of this kind, to be one of the most active agents in the fields of financial education and inclusion, in the exercise of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its commitment to society
