Unicaja’s Edufinet Project participates in the Business Week 2022, organized by the University of Huelva (UHU) and the Consejería de Empleo, Formación y Trabajo Autónomo de la Junta de Andalucía, whose 4th edition will take place from today and until 31 March, focused on ‘Environmental and social sustainability in the business sector’
The evento, hosted by the Faculty of Business Science and Tourism, at Campus de la Merced of University of Huelva, is an annual meeting in which business owners from different sectors share their experiences with university students through conferences, round tables and other recreational activities, in order to bring them closer to the reality of the business world.
In this line, Unicaja’s financial education project will give two lectures, covering the relevance of sustainable finances and the financial sector as a key agent in the transition to a sustainable economy.
At the lecture of Tuesday 29 March, with the title ‘Sustainability and the financial sector’, Unicaja Banco’s Head of Corporate Behaviour, Daniel Coronas, will talk about banking supervision and regulation, analyzing practical and theoretical aspects from the perspective of listed companies
At the lecture of Wednesday 30 March, focused on ‘Sustainability reports’ in the business sector, Unicaja Banco’s Head of Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility and Edufinet Coordinator, José María López, will address the frameworks, standards and ratings of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance criteria) reports.
The participation of Edufinet in the Business Week 2022 falls within Unicaja’s usual exercise of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), as well as within its strong commitment to the society. Its ongoing training initiatives have made Unicaja to be one of the pioneering institutions in financial education in Spain, and one of the most active agents in the field of financial inclusion.
Pioneering Project in Spain
The Edufinet Project, promoted by Unicaja Banco and Fundación Unicaja, is one of the first financial education programmes launched in Spain, and its promotion and dissemination works have received several awards. The project is available since 2007 through an Internet portal for the general audience, although its development started in 2005. It currently collaborates with 16 universities and more than then business organizations and institutions.
Since it was launched, nearly 200,000 people have participated in the different courses, workshops and lectures organized. Its website has registered so far more than ten million visits, with access from nearly 180 countries.
It also features several portals with specific contents, such as Edufinext, for young people, Edufiemp, for business owners and entrepreneurs, and Edufiagro, to raise awareness on the importance of financial literacy in the agricultural sector. The website also includes a financial videogame. The project has a YouTube channel and profiles on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
