Unicaja Banco sponsors the 5th Real Madrid Foundation Charity Fun Run, which will take place on 8 May in Alhaurín de la Torre (Malaga). This circuit of races started in January in Madrid with the goal of promoting the values of Real Madrid Foundation and of contributing to its projects of social inclusion through sport.
The race was presented today in Malaga, by the Councillor for Sports of Alhaurín de la Torre, María del Mar Martínez; the Head of Campus and Clinics Area of Real Madrid Foundation, Andrés Muntaner; the Co-founder of Gold Running, Jaime Cue; Unicaja Banco’s Head of Cabinet, Ana Echenique; and Unicaja Banco’s Regional Manager of Commercial Banking in Malaga, Agustín Sánchez.
The Polideportivo El Limón in Alhaurín de la Torre will be the starting point of a sports day that will begin at 10.00 a.m., with 5k and 10k races and with children's runs (from 4 to 15 years old).
More than 1,000 people have participated in the four previous editions of this charity run held in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. After the pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event resumes this year with the expectation of surpassing that number of participants and breaking the absolute record of registered runners.
The Councillor for Sports of the City Hall of Alhaurín de la Torre remarked that the town will be again the epicenter of such an important athletic event, with which to return to normality, and stressed the fact that ‘sport and charity are united in the same event’. She also encouraged those who cannot participate in the race to make a donation to ‘Bib 0’ and congratulated Malaga Provincial Council and, particularly, Club Deportivo Alpino Jarapalos for their involvement in the event since it was created. She also thanked the Real Madrid Foundation, Unicaja Banco and GoldEvents for choosing Alhaurín de la Torre, once again, as part of this circuit of charity runs.
Ana Echenique highlighted Unicaja Banco’s commitment to ‘sport as a tool for the integration of groups at risk of social exclusion, in line with our Corporate Social Responsibility work’, as well as to ‘promote healthy habits in the population from the school stage’.
Similarly, Andrés Muntaner added that ‘charity runs reflect the spirit of the Real Madrid Foundation, combining sport and solidarity’.
Finally, Jaime Cue, promoter of the race for the benefit of Real Madrid Foundation, remarked the importance of sports events leaving the big cities and also being held in idyllic enclaves so that runners can travel and enjoy the race. ‘Visiting Alhaurín de la Torre is a luxury for any runner’, he said.
Registration is open at https://runningfundacionrealmadrid.es/, with rates starting at 10 euros, and Unicaja Banco’s customers will enjoy a 10% discount in the fee.
Promotion of values and social inclusion
The Circuit of Charity Runs is conceived with the goal of contributing to the different projects of Real Madrid Foundation, by promoting the values inherent in sports, favoring the comprehensive education of children, youth and the social inclusion of those which are most vulnerable.
Unicaja Banco is Real Madrid’s official bank since last season and collaborates since 2012 with Real Madrid Foundation in some of its projects for the integration of socially disadvantaged groups through sports, both at social and sport schools and programs at prisons.
With the sponsorship of these charity runs, Unicaja Banco reflects its commitment to the promotion of sports and its potential as driver of social integration, in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) labor.
The 5th Charity Fun Run has the collaboration of different entities, in addition to Unicaja Banco as main sponsor, the Sports Department of the City Hall of Alhaurín de la Torre, GSK-Inmunofitness, C.D. Alpino Jarapalos, Coca Cola and Solán de Cabras.
