Unicaja Banco sponsored the 5th Real Madrid Foundation Charity Fun Run, organized on Sunday 8 May in the Malaga town of Alhaurín de la Torre. Nearly one thousand runners participated in this race, organized to get support for the Foundation’s social and sporting projects.
The Mayor of Alhaurín de la Torre, Joaquín Villanova, gave the start of an event attended by the Councilor for Sports, María del Mar Martínez, and Ana Echenique, Unicaja Banco’s Head of Cabinet.
Beatriz Jiménez (43'14''), Lynn Chislett (45'16'') and Margarita Fernández (45'49'') were the first classified in the women's 10K category, while in the men's category Kamed Mohamed Mizzian (34'01''), José Antonio Urbaneja (34'01'') and José Antonio Gutiérrez (36'02'') won.
The 5K race was led by Marina Jiménez (19'45''), Bella Bayliss (20'11'') and Ana Fernández (22'22''), in the women’s category, and by Stephen Bayliss (17'32''), Hugo Márquez (18'54'') and Rafa Moreno (18'57''), in the men’s category.
The day, festive and family-oriented, included races for the youngest with distances ranging from 400 to 1,500 meters. It was also an inclusive event thanks to the support of the Asociaciones Divers@s of Alhaurín de la Torre and IES Galileo, who work for the inclusion of people with functional diversity.
Social and sporting programmes
The benefits of the race are allocated to the social and sporting programs to provide attention to diversity of the Real Madrid Foundation. In addition to Unicaja Banco as the main sponsor, this race has the collaboration of different entities, such as the Sports Department of the City of Alhaurín de la Torre, GSK-Inmunofitness, C.D. Alpino Jarapalos, Coca Cola and Solán de Cabras.
