Five students from secondary and baccalaureate high schools in Granada, Huelva, Malaga, Seville and Valladolid have participated this Friday in the final of the 15th Financial Olympics of the Edufinet Project, financial education project promoted by Unicaja and Fundación Unicaja. The celebration of the final of this contest, which recognizes the best work of students who have participated in the 15th Financial Education Workshops for Young People, has had the support of Funcas Educa.

The five finalists of the 15th Financial Olympics have presented today before the jury the conclusions of their work. The winners are Pablo Román, from IES Camas-Antonio Brisquet, in Camas (Seville), who won first prize; Alejandro Bravo, from Colegio María Inmaculada de Antequera (Málaga), who came in second place, and Laura Martín, from Colegio San Juan de la Cruz de Medina del Campo (Valladolid), in third place.

In addition, two runners-up prizes were awarded to Margarita Padilla, from IES Severo Ochoa in Granada, and Miguel Amarat, from IES Juan Antonio Pérez Mercader in Aljaraque (Huelva). Among all participants a full USA Scholarship from Fundación Unicaja Foundation has been drawn. The scholarship will cover a three-week stay in the United States within a cultural exchange program based on family and school coexistence. The winner was Miguel Amarat.

As a prize, the first-place winner received an iPhone 14, the second-place winner received a 64 GB iPad, and the third-place winner received an Amazfit 4. The teachers and the winning schools also received awards.

This competition supplements the activities developed within the framework of the 15th Financial Education Workshops for Young People, in which more than 10,000 secondary and baccalaureate high school students from twenty provinces have participated so far this year. In the first phase of this competition, the participants had to solve a practical case, where, among other aspects, they had to make decisions about the purchase of a gasoline or electric vehicle and reflect on the type of financing they would use, whether through a loan or renting. Today, Friday, the five finalists presented their conclusions to the jury.

Edufinet Project, a pioneering financial education initiative

With nearly two decades of experience, the Edufinet Project is one of the pioneering financial education programs in Spain and currently has the collaboration of a dozen institutions and business organizations, as well as 17 universities.

This program has been operating since the end of 2007 through an Internet portal aimed at all types of audiences, although it began to be developed in 2005 (www.edufinet.com). Its website offers a wide variety of contents, with practical and educational information on the financial world, which can be consulted through different sections (Edufinext, Edufiemp, Edufitech, Edufiblog, Edufisport, Edufiagro and Edufiacademics). It also has a channel on YouTube, accounts on the social networks Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok, and is present on the podcast platforms iVoox and Spotify.

Since it was launched, almost 260,000 people have participated in person in the various seminars, workshops, courses and conferences it has organized. In fact, its web pages have accumulated more than 20 million visits to date, with access from almost 180 countries.

The Edufinet Project is one of the most active agents in the fields of financial education and inclusion in our country, whose work has been recognized during this time with several awards, including several distinctions in the CECA Social Work and Financial Education Awards.
