Unicaja has collaborated one more year with the Cross Villamayor-Aspace, a sporting event that reaches its tenth edition and is organized with the aim of raising funds for the Association of people with Cerebral Palsy of Salamanca (Asociación de personas con Parálisis Cerebral de Salamanca, Aspace). More than 1,400 people have again demonstrated this Sunday their solidarity with this charity organization.
Aspace is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life of people affected by cerebral palsy, promoting their personal development and equal opportunities, and that of their families.
Founded in 1979, it has more than 600 members and covers 280 places for people affected by cerebral palsy. The services provided in its centers range from early care to education, including adult day centers, residential services, housing, leisure and free time activities, family care, respite care, as well as promotion of personal autonomy and personal assistance. For the care of people affected by cerebral palsy, Aspace has a total of 200 professionals and more than 50 volunteers.
The Villamayor-Aspace Cross has already established itself as an event that goes beyond the merely sporting. It is a party that every year brings together a high number of friends and families.
The president of Aspace, Jesús Alberto Martín, explained that all the profits from this event "will go to the Day Center project and two homes for elderly people with cerebral palsy, because there are no facilities of these characteristics. The idea is to build them on a plot of land next to the Helmántico Stadium". Martín took the opportunity to thank the collaborators and participants who attended yesterday's cross.
