The Edufinet Project on financial education, promoted by Unicaja and Fundación Unicaja, joins next Monday, 7 October, the celebration of the Financial Education Day, with an extensive program of activities that will take place throughout the week and that have this year, as a central axis, digital finance. The Financial Education Day, which celebrates its tenth anniversary in this edition, is an initiative promoted by the Financial Education Plan (PEF, Plan de Educación Financiera), which is promoted by the Bank of Spain, the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business and also has a large number of collaborators.
As part of this celebration, Edufinet will also receive, this Monday, the 'Finance For All 2024 Award', with which the Financial Education Plan recognizes as the best financial education initiative to its 'Ambassadors Project (Financial Education for Senior Citizens)', developed in collaboration with Funcas Educa and the network of Vuela Guadalinfo centers.
This new edition of the Financial Education Day is presented under the slogan 'Digital Finance: Learn, Innovate, Advance', with the aim of highlighting the opportunities currently offered by the digital environment to citizens when managing their personal finances, as well as the need to know the risks involved in the use of technology.
In this regard, the Edufinet Project will develop various training activities, which focus on the importance of transferring to society as a whole, but especially to the most vulnerable groups or those with less digital training, the knowledge and skills necessary to enable them to manage their personal finances with sufficient autonomy and security, in addition to focusing on the need to train them adequately in the use of digital banking tools and services, as well as in cybersecurity.
In this way, the aim is to ensure that all citizens make the right decisions in the economic sphere, benefiting from the advantages of the current digital framework. All this, without losing sight of the challenges and threats that this new scenario also poses, by providing practical advice to help them detect and protect themselves against possible fraud or cyber risks.
Activities during the week
Among other activities planned by the Edufinet Project for the coming week, next Monday, 7 October, a seminar will be held at its Financial Education Center in Salamanca, aimed at around twenty students in the 4th year of secondary education. These students will also be given a guided tour of the facilities and educational offer of this space, such as an exhibition on economic concepts and interactive financial games.
Also, on Tuesday 8, the presentation of the annual Edufinet Congress will take place, which this year celebrates its seventh edition from 13 to 15 November, under the theme 'Financial education and cybersecurity: keys for the new digital era', with the collaboration of Funcas Educa. This event will be broadcast on the website of the congress. (www.edufinetcongress.es).
On the other hand, on Wednesday 9, a talk on financial education and cybersecurity will be given to secondary school students at the Edufinet Financial Education Center in Malaga, by an expert in the field, which will also be broadcast on Edufinet's social networks. These young students will also undergo an assessment of financial competencies in these sessions, based on the exercises published by the OECD, corresponding to the PISA tests. This is a significant contribution to the field of financial education assessment, making Edufinet one of the first programs to develop and integrate it into the design of its financial education activities.
The Unicaja Financial Education Center in Malaga will host the annual meeting of the Edufinet Project on Thursday 10, during which the start of the 16th edition of its Financial Education Workshops for Young People will be presented. This event will include presentations by representatives of the Bank of Spain and the CNMV, as well as the Edufinet Project, Unicaja and Fundación Unicaja.
Finally, on Friday 11, Edufinet will present the ATM and app simulators developed specifically for the financial education sessions for senior citizens. The aim is to enable the over-60s to improve their digital banking skills and put them into practice in a simulated digital environment, through the trainer or the use of tablets, thus helping to reduce the digital divide affecting this group.
In addition, throughout the week, Edufinet will reinforce its informative and educational work, around the Financial Education Day and the theme of this edition, both in its conferences and in the dissemination of audiovisual content through its social media profiles and podcast platforms, as well as from its blog (EdufiBlog).
