Unicaja has renewed its sponsorship of the Valladolid International Film Week (SEMINCI) for another year, following the agreement reached with the Valladolid Town Hall. Under this agreement, the bank's collaboration with the 69th edition of the festival, which will screen more than 200 titles in all its sections, has been renewed.

The mayor of the city, Jesús Julio Carnero, Unicaja’s head of Communication and Image, Fernando Ríos, and the director of the festival, José Luis Cienfuegos, participated in the presentation of the agreement.

The Mayor, Jesús Julio Carnero, expressed the gratitude of both the Town Hall and the city of Valladolid to Unicaja for continuing to support Seminci, and wanted to send the message that the city has always been, and intends to be in the future, closely linked to cinema.

“Cinema is a leading industry of our economy and also participates in a cultural fact full of wit, wisdom, talent and magic. Valladolid meets all the requirements to become the best set, as we have been demonstrating recently. Unicaja's sponsorship is the necessary impulse to achieve our objectives, such as Valladolid becoming the headquarters of the National Museum of Cinema”.

For his part, Fernando Ríos expressed on behalf of Unicaja his satisfaction at continuing to support SEMINCI for another year. “Our bank has historically collaborated in prestigious cultural initiatives, including film festivals. This link between our bank and SEMINCI continues to strengthen now”.

“We are sure that this new edition will be a huge success, from which both Valladolid and the region as a whole will benefit,” said Unicaja's Head of Communication and Image.

Twenty years supporting cinema in Valladolid

The collaboration between Seminci and Unicaja, as sponsor of the Festival, has been uninterrupted for two decades. This sponsorship is a reflection of the commitment that the bank maintains with Valladolid and Castilla y León, to support important cultural initiatives.

The most visible symbol of this relationship is that, from 18 to 26 October 2024, the carpet on which actors, directors and other guests will walk during the opening and closing ceremonies of the Festival at the Teatro Calderón will not be red, but green, the corporate color of the financial institution. This carpet will also be visible in other Seminci theaters, as well as in different locations throughout the city.

The 69th edition of Seminci will begin on the 18 October with the screening of the opening film, Polvo serán, by Carlos Marques-Marcet, starring Ángela Molina. During the following nine days, more than 200 titles will be screened, including feature and short films, with sections dedicated to the most experimental cinema, to the recovery of classic titles, to the proposals of Castilla y León filmmakers, to the youngest, to the most outstanding names of the current production, awarded in other festivals, in addition to the competition section.

All in all, a selection that aims to offer a panorama of auteur cinema for all audiences. This edition will also feature Germany as guest country and a retrospective of the outstanding representative of current American independent cinema Nathan Silver. In addition to this wide range of content, there will be round tables, master classes, exhibitions and other film-related activities.
