Unicaja, with the aim of promoting the practice of healthy habits, as well as sport in the areas where it operates, collaborates with the 35th Half Marathon Elvas-Badajoz. A test, organized by the Municipal Sports Foundation of Badajoz, which took place this Sunday, 10 November and in which more than a thousand athletes participated.
Jorge González and Mónica Gutiérrez were the winners, completing the podium with Carlos Gazapo and Zouhair Ejanati, in the men's category, and Ruth García and María del Carmen Chaves, in the women's race.
The race, which links the two locations over 21.097 kilometers, started at the Parque da Piedade in the Portuguese town of Elvas and ended at the Avenida de Huelva in Badajoz.
This year, coinciding with the year of the Olympic Games in Paris, a tribute was paid to the Badajoz Olympians David García Zurita and the triathlete Miriam Casillas, who sponsored the race.
During the race and the awards ceremony, the mayor of Badajoz, Ignacio Grajera, and the councilor of the Municipal Sports Foundation, Juan Parejo, were present. Representing Unicaja were the regional manager, Julio Morales, the head of the Extremadura South area, María Jesús Guerrero, the head of the Extremadura North area, Eugenio Agarrado, as well as Andrés Plaza and Gerardo Hermoso, managers of the Badajoz branches in Avenida de Europa and Avenida Ricardo Carapeto Zambrano, respectively, and María Soledad Lucio, manager of the Olivenza branch.
