The Edufinet Project, promoted by Fundación Unicaja and Unicaja, has received at the CECA Social Work and Financial Education Awards 2023-2024 gala, held this Thursday in Madrid, three new awards, which recognize, in different categories, its work in promoting and boosting financial education and inclusion.
Specifically, Edufinet has been awarded the First Prize in the Financial Education category, in the section of Seniors +65 years, for the work it has developed during this time through its 'Ambassadors Project (Financial Education for Senior Citizens)', as well as for the various training sessions it has conducted specifically for this demographic, with the aim of promoting their financial culture and inclusion and helping to reduce their digital divide.
With this initiative, which has the collaboration of Funcas Educa and the centers of the Puntos Vuela network, Edufinet carries out throughout the year various financial education sessions aimed at the over 65s, with special attention to the rural environment, to teach them, with an eminently practical approach, knowledge and skills that allow them to manage their economy with greater autonomy, as well as to improve their skills, both in the field of cybersecurity and in the management of digital banking tools and services.
On the other hand, Edufinet has also been awarded the Second Prize in the area of Financial Education, in the section for Adults (26-65 years old), for its contribution to the dissemination of economic and financial information, in an entertaining, didactic and continuous way, through the daily broadcasting of short videos, as well as audiovisual and digital content on its social network profiles (Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, X and Tik Tok), which can also be followed in audio format on its podcast platforms (Ivoox and Spotify). These educational resources are a unique vehicle used by Edufinet to bring to all kinds of audiences, in an attractive way, a range of interesting issues, fun facts and data on the financial world, as well as current issues such as sustainability, cybersecurity, finance in sports, the world of investments or entrepreneurship, among many others.
Likewise, CECA has awarded Edufinet the Special Prize of the Jury, in recognition of the development of the Financial Education Center of Salamanca, as a new space specifically dedicated to financial education. The center is supported by the “Programa Funcas de Estímulo a la Educación Financiera” and the collaboration of Fundación Caja Duero.
Inaugurated in December 2023, this new center joins the Edufinet Project's existing center in Malaga, with the aim of providing added value and differentiation to its wide range of educational offerings. Its facilities, located in the historic San Eloy building in the capital of Salamanca, host, among other activities, an exhibition on basic concepts, economic and financial fun facts, and cybersecurity tips; a timeline that reviews the evolution of money throughout its history; an area of interactive financial games developed by Edufinet and equipped with tablets for access, as well as a training classroom.
Recognition to its educational work
In this new edition of the CECA awards, the aim is to highlight once again the importance of financial education and literacy as a key pillar for the stability and economic and financial development of society as a whole.
The awarding of these prizes to the Edufinet Project, in the category of Financial Education, once again highlights the value of the initiatives it has developed over this time, in its aim of bringing the keys to the financial world closer to all sectors of the society and, therefore, of contributing to making the right decisions in the field of the economy and finance. María del Mar Molina, a member of the working team of this financial education program, represented Edufinet at the awards ceremony, which took place this Thursday at the Real Casino de Madrid.
Edufinet, with almost two decades of experience, is one of the pioneering financial education programs in Spain and currently has the collaboration of a dozen institutions and business organizations, as well as 17 universities.
Its website (www.edufinet.com) offers a wide variety of content, with practical and educational information on the financial world, through different sections (Edufinext, Edufiemp, Edufitech, Edufiblog, Edufisport, Edufiagro and Edufiacademics). In addition to its usual seminars, workshops, courses and conferences, which are aimed at all segments of the population, its main lines of action include the educational and dissemination work it carries out through its social media profiles and podcast platforms, with adapted formats.
Its work has been recognized with various distinctions, including several awards from the CECA Social Work and Financial Education Awards. Its 'Ambassadors Project' recently received the Finance for All 2024 Award, granted by the Financial Education Plan, and has also been a finalist in the Vuela 2024 Awards.
