Unicaja's Board of Directors today approved the appointment of Estrella Botas Díez as Director General of Technology and Operations, subject to verification of her suitability by the supervisor.
Estrella Botas will be responsible for implementing the company's technology strategy and leading its digital and operational transformation as levers to generate value, increase efficiency in processes and improve customer experience.
Botas will be part of Unicaja's Management Committee and will report directly to the CEO, Isidro Rubiales, who has pointed out that “the incorporation of Estrella Botas is a decisive step forward in our digital transformation strategy and in the development of new technological and operational capabilities”.
He also expressed his conviction that “her experience and perspective will be key to positioning Unicaja in a constantly evolving environment that requires anticipation to incorporate solutions that enrich our services and facilitate their adaptation to the changes that customers demand to improve their experience”.
Professional career
Estrella Botas, with a degree in Mathematics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and a postgraduate degree in Production, Technology and Operations Management from ICADE, has more than 30 years of experience as a consultant and partner in charge of the technology practice for the banking sector, where she has successfully led relevant projects of technology, operations and process integration, as well as leading the launch of technology strategies.
Reinforcement of the organizational structure
This new appointment, which follows the forthcoming departure of José María de la Vega, after a long career spanning more than 35 years, is in addition to that of Juan Medina Serramitjana as Director General of People, which took place last November.
Medina, member of the Management Committee and reporting directly to the CEO, assumes under his direction the competencies of People and Talent, Organization and Legal, with the aim of strengthening the strategic management of human capital and the internal transformation of the organization as one of its main axes.
With a degree in Law from the University of Malaga and a Senior Management program from San Telmo, Juan Medina has more than 20 years of experience in the field of legal advice, with a special focus on labor relations.
With these appointments, Unicaja strengthens its organizational structure with the aim of maintaining its model of closeness, trust and soundness, and to advance in its commitment to innovation, sustainability, profitability and improved customer service.
