The Edufinet Project, a financial education program promoted by Fundación Unicaja and Unicaja, once again brings financial and digital education to senior citizens through the play 'Las cosas fáciles', which has been performed by the Company of Blanca Marsillach last Thursday and today, Friday, at the Sala Fundación Unicaja María Cristina in Malaga city.
The play, which is sponsored by Funcas Educa, aims to serve again as a link to help promote financial inclusion and reduce the digital divide of people over 65 years of age, through culture. On this occasion, around 750 people have benefited from this activity.
This is the second collaboration between Edufinet and this theater company, focused on this demographic, after staging the same project last year in Malaga, which was attended by more than 650 people. In addition, there was another play in 2023, where both entities worked together again to bring the keys to the world of finance closer to young people.
‘Las cosas fáciles' is a comedy written and directed by Alberto Velasco and starring actors Cristina Izquierdo and Sira Sicilia, which was first performed in Madrid in October 2023. With an educational purpose, this play focuses on the situation of the elderly when facing the new financial world and the need to provide them with the necessary tools and means to promote their active aging, thus contributing to greater autonomy both in the management of their personal finances and in their access to the digital environment.
In short, the aim is to give visibility to the relationship that this demographic has with technology and finance, as well as to enhance their training, with the aim of providing them with greater independence when managing their economy, and to make them aware, at the same time, for greater prevention, of the existing risks in terms of cybersecurity when they make use of digital banking.
This play, promoted by CECA in 2023, had a tour that visited different cities in the Comunidad Valenciana, Aragón, Extremadura, the Basque Country, Castilla-La Mancha, Comunidad de Madrid, Galicia and Andalusia. In 2024 Edufinet has decided, given the interest of the topics covered in it, to continue with the project.
Support to financial inclusion
The Edufinet Project has also continued to work during this time to ensure the financial inclusion of society as a whole, with special attention to the youngest and the over 65s.
With almost two decades of experience, it is one of the pioneering financial education programs in Spain and currently collaborates with ten institutions and business organizations, as well as with 17 universities.
Since it was launched, almost 260,000 people have participated in person in the various seminars, workshops, courses and conferences it has organized. To date, its web pages have accumulated more than 20 million visits, with access from almost 180 countries.
Its website (www.edufinet.com) offers practical and educational information on the financial world through different sections (Edufinext, Edufiemp, Edufitech, Edufiblog, Edufisport, Edufiagro and Edufiacademics). Other lines of action include courses and conferences (in-person and online) and publications, in addition to the educational work carried out through its social media profiles (YouTube, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok) and the podcast platforms iVoox and Spotify.
All this has contributed to making the Edufinet Project one of the most active agents in the fields of financial education and inclusion at present. Its work has been distinguished throughout this time with many awards, including several distinctions in the CECA Social Work and Financial Education Awards, as well as the Finance for All 2024 Award, granted by the Financial Education Plan, in the category of best financial education initiative. It has also recently been recognized as a finalist in the Vuela 2024 Awards.
