Unicaja Ultra Sierra Nevada, the highest altitude ultramarathon in the Iberian Peninsula and one of the most recognized at national and European level will be held on 4, 5 and 6 April and will have, once again, Unicaja as one of its main sponsors. In addition, the financial institution will give its name to the race, which will be renamed “Unicaja Ultra Sierra Nevada”.
This year's edition will once again include five categories (Ultra, Trail, Marathon, Half and Relay) and four distances (100, 60, 42 and 25 kilometers), allowing runners of all levels and preferences to choose the race that best suits their characteristics. The main course will be the Ultra, with 100 kilometers and starting from the heart of Granada with the Alhambra as a backdrop. The route will culminate in the ski resort of Pradollano, in Sierra Nevada, after passing through the foot of the Veleta peak.
Unicaja Ultra Sierra Nevada boasts every season the privilege of exceeding 3,000 meters of altitude, reaffirming itself as the highest altitude ultra mountain race in the Iberian Peninsula, a unique attraction that year after year, attracts a multitude of runners from all corners of Spain and Europe.
For the head of Communication and Image of Unicaja, Fernando Ríos, “supporting this race has a double meaning for the bank, on the sporting side, by promoting the practice of sport and its values, and also for the link that we have with the ski and mountain resort of Sierra Nevada”.
For his part José Manuel Toledo, CEO of TerraIncognita Group, says that “for us this alliance with Unicaja is the final step with a sponsor that has shown its support from the beginning and with whom we share the same passion for sport and for Sierra Nevada. I want to take this opportunity to show my sincere gratitude for Unicaja's loyalty during all this time and appreciate their commitment to such an important sporting event for us as Unicaja Ultra Sierra Nevada”.
Support to Sierra Nevada
The sponsorship of this race by Unicaja is part of the support of the bank to the practice of sport in general and to the values it represents, giving visibility to the different sports disciplines and promoting sport from the grassroots.
The bank also collaborates with the ski and mountain resort of Sierra Nevada, managed by the public company Cetursa, which responds to Unicaja's interest in strengthening support for the productive fabric and sectors that drive economic development and employment, both in Andalusia in general and in the province of Granada in particular.
